Valerie Bonner ’14 is proof that there’s no one path for a Temple Liberal Arts graduate. Weeks after defending her dissertation in sociology, Bonner accepted a full-time position at National Economic Research Associates (NERA) Economic Consulting. From there, she moved on to a position with Google in Mountain View, California. I spoke to Bonner as she dished about networking, her transition into the corporate world, and even heated toilet seats.
“One thing I really liked about Temple’s sociology department was its collaborative nature. I had so many conversations with fellow graduate students about the best way to study research questions, which data analysis technique to use given certain situations, helping each other with statistical package questions, etc. These types of conversations prepared me well for my Google interviews.”
